Dejan Kulusevski was spotted in Tottenham training this week as he continues to wait for his much-awaited return to competitive action.
The Swedish midfielder hasn’t featured since the back end of the 2024-25 campaign under Ange Postecoglou, when he suffered a serious knee injury.
Kulusevski also missed the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Sweden, which was another hammer blow for him at this stage of his career.
However, Roberto De Zerbi has revealed that he is close to returning to action, although it will only be after the international break.
Dejan Kulusevski close to returning for Tottenham
“We have to manage Deki in the best way possible with the medical staff and physical staff,” said De Zerbi via Football London.
“We have to work day by day. When he gets back to the top, best condition, he will be like a new signing for us.”
“Deki doesn’t need my encouragement. He is strong. He has a great character.”
Tottenham have waited for 16 months to have the Swede back in action. And judging by De Zerbi’s comments, he is on the cusp, but Tottenham will err on the side of caution with him after his recent struggles.
The timing of the upcoming international break is absolutely priceless for Kulusevski as it would allow him to put the hard yards in on the training ground for three weeks before featuring for Tottenham.
