Tottenham attacker agrees to leave but massive hurdle emerges

Tottenham Hotspur endured a summer transfer window for the ages under Roberto De Zerbi.

Ten new players joined the club and a handful departed to signal what was a summer of change at N17.

On deadline day, there was a lot of drama as the Lilywhites scrambled to get deals for Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo over the line.

In terms of departures, Richarlison’s move to Everton failed on deadline day and he suffered the same fate when talks were ongoing with Trabzonspor.

And now, he has agreed a move to Vasco da Gama but Tottenham will not be able to loan him to the Brazilian side.

Richarlison’s Tottenham departure held up

Journalist Raisa Simplicio provided an elaborate update on the situation on X.

“Richarlison gave the “OK” to Vasco for a return to Brazilian football by December of this year. The scenario is still considered difficult due to Tottenham.

“The English club got irritated with the striker for turning down an offer from Everton. Tottenham was counting on that sale to sign a player who ended up going to City.

“Richarlison even received an offer from Turkey, but Tottenham refused and did not register the player in the Premier League. People close to Richarlison believe the player is suffering a kind of retaliation for not agreeing to transfer to Everton under the terms presented.

“The transfer window in Brazilian football closes on September 11. Vasco will need skill to convince the English or find another alternative.”

This is turning out to be a much bigger mess than what we had initially imagined. The sooner it is sorted, the better it is for everyone involved.
