James Maddison says Tottenham have sold a ‘hell of a player’ this summer

The 2026-27 Premier League season is a big one for James Maddison and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lilywhites survived relegation by the scruff of their teeth last time, while they finished 16th in 2024-25.

As for Maddison, he missed the lion’s share of the previous campaign with an ACL injury but returned to action for the run-in.

Roberto De Zerbi has rejuvenated his squad since his arrival and has also aggressively moved players on.

Manor Solomon was recently sold to West Ham United despite his strong performances in pre-season. And Maddison believes the attacker is actually a much better player than he gets credit for.

Maddison sends Tottenham farewell message to Solomon

After Solomon’s departure to West Ham was officially confirmed, Maddison took to Instagram to send him a classy farewell message, where he referred to him as a hell of a player.

The Israeli attacker made just five senior appearances for Tottenham and was loaned out to Fiorentina, Leeds United and Villarreal during his time at the club.

Solomon was actually one of De Zerbi’s bright sparks in pre-season, but it appears as if he was only given a chance to attract potential suitors, which is exactly what happened with West Ham.

His unceremonious Tottenham stint has finally ended, but as always, Maddison showed his class with a brilliant parting message to his former teammate.
