Since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, Harry Kane has constantly been linked with a return to the club.
The England captain has set the world alight at Bayern Munich with his goalscoring exploits and continues to be his country’s main man.
There was a case of unfinished business when he left Tottenham to go on and win trophies.
He never won a trophy at the club and the Premier League’s highest goalscorer record – which is currently held by Alan Shearer – is something he was tipped to eclipse.
Now, however, recent reports appear to suggest he’s never returning to the club.
Harry Kane to extend Bayern Munich deal
Kane’s current deal expires next summer, but The Times have confirmed that he is set to sign a new contract until the summer of 2029.
When his contract expires with the Bavarian giants, he will be 36 and his powers will have likely waned, at least to a certain degree.
An excerpt from the same article suggests he’s focused on winning trophies with Bayern, with the UEFA Champions League in his sights.
“The England captain is set to sign a new deal at Bayern Munich despite the links back to the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur.
“He is focused on chasing more trophies with Bayern rather than Alan Shearer’s Premier League record.”
That should effectively put rumours of his potential return to bed, as the England captain is set to spend the foreseeable future in Germany.
Never say never in football, but we can’t see him returning to Tottenham in 2029, which wouldn’t even give him enough time to break Shearer’s record.
