Tottenham played out a 1-1 draw with Getafe in a pre-season friendly.
The game wasn’t telecast and no one was allowed at the stadium, including the media personnel and the fans.
After Getafe took a 1-0 lead, Roberto De Zerbi’s side equalised through Conor Gallagher to avoid defeat.
Interestingly, it was a 70-minute game, with the Tottenham substitutes playing their U-21s later in the day.
Not much has been reported about the game, but Jan Paul van Hecke had some harsh words to say about the Getafe players.
Van Hecke rips into Getafe
Getafe have developed a reputation for being unnecessarily fiery at times and get into their fair share of scuffles on the pitch.
And that was once again the case yesterday as they clattered into tackles despite the fact that it was a friendly.
Their actions didn’t go unnoticed, though, as Van Hecke called them out after the game.
“I thought it was a bit too much from their side. I think in a normal game they have maybe two or three red cards, but that’s also maybe the way they play.
“We knew beforehand that they can do it, but it’s a friendly, so sometimes you think maybe a bit less, but on the other side we need to also be at our top then because if you’re not putting in your foot, then they are going to win it.”
Thankfully, no injuries have been officially confirmed, although there have been some whispers about Dominic Solanke and his ankle. Fingers crossed it isn’t anything serious.
