Tottenham Hotspur will look to sell players to fine-tune their squad as Roberto De Zerbi prepares for his first full season in charge of the club.
The Lilywhites have given the Italian a massive role at the club, where he has complete autonomy over recruitment, player sales, etc.
A few young players have already moved on, and over the past month, Lucas Bergvall has been linked with a Tottenham departure.
Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have already had bids turned down for him, while Brighton are waiting patiently to strike if the North London outfit show any willingness to sell.
And now, TEAMtalk report that Tottenham have pulled the plug on his potential departure after a crucial intervention from De Zerbi.
De Zerbi tells Tottenham to keep Bergvall
Last week, De Zerbi publicly indicated that he would like to keep Bergvall at the club, which itself was a massive sign that he rates the player.
And now, according to the aforementioned report, the Italian has told the Tottenham hierarchy that it would be a mistake to sell the Swede this summer eve even if their £60m valuation is met.
Bergvall has a lot of competition at Tottenham after Conor Gallagher, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali arrived at the club in 2026.
However, the report mentions that De Zerbi has given assurances to Bergvall that he will get his fair share of games to prove his worth.
The 20-year-old featured regularly in pre-season and showed his class, and once again, we can’t help but think De Zerbi has made the right decision.
