Tottenham Announce Yves Bissouma Departure After 111 Appearances

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Yves Bissouma has left the club following the conclusion of his contract.

The Mali international joined Spurs from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 and made 111 appearances in all competitions during his time in north London.

Tottenham announced the midfielder’s departure on June 10, bringing a clear end to a spell that included flashes of control, injuries, selection battles and a final season shaped by major change around the squad.

Spurs Midfield Planning Moves On

The club confirmed the exit in an official men’s player update, with Bissouma leaving after his deal expired.

For Spurs, the significance is less about surprise and more about squad structure. Removing Bissouma from the group clears another midfield place and increases the importance of how the club balances ball-winning, press resistance and progression before the Premier League campaign begins.

It also leaves supporters with a clean statistical endpoint: 111 appearances after arriving as a high-profile Premier League signing from Brighton.

Tottenham’s summer work now has to show whether this is simply a contract expiry or part of a broader reshaping of the engine room.

Either way, Bissouma’s exit gives the club a fixed point in the summer plan. Spurs no longer have to account for a fringe-contract question, and supporters can judge the next midfield move against a clearer squad picture.
