  • Italian has breathed new life into Tottenham Hotspur since arriving
  • Vicario looks likely to leave Lilywhites in the summer transfer window

Gugliemo Vicario hasn’t played a single game under Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham Hotspur, but his feelings about him are abundantly clear.

Since the Italian’s arrival, the North London outfit have improved drastically to avoid relegation, which they officially managed yesterday with a 1-0 win against Everton.

They left it late, but if it wasn’t for De Zerbi, none of this would have been possible, as just two months ago, they looked over and out under Igor Tudor.

And now, Vicario has taken to social media to send a heartfelt message to De Zerbi after Tottenham’s Premier League status was officially confirmed.

Vicario hails De Zerbi’s impact at Tottenham

Before De Zerbi’s arrival, Tottenham’s last Premier League win was in December 2025 when an Archie Gray goal spearheaded them to a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Since his arrival, though, in seven games in the competition, he recorded three wins, two draws and two losses to take them out of the drop zone.

Vicario hasn’t played under the Italian as he only recently recovered from hernia surgery, with Antonin Kinsky faring brilliantly in his absence.

However, the goalkeeper was on the bench against Everton and celebrated Joao Palhinha’s goal passionately with De Zerbi as they enjoyed a passionate moment on the touchline.

And after the game, Vicario took to Instagram to send a special message to his coach, without whom none of this would have been possible.

Vicario set to leave Tottenham in the summer

Vicario has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan and already has one foot out of the door at Tottenham.

Kinsky has played incredibly well under De Zerbi and could be given a chance to stake his claim as their number one goalkeeper.

However, Tottenham have been linked with a host of replacements for Vicario, with James Trafford, Bart Verbruggen, Lucas Chevalier and Robin Roefs part of their shortlist, among others.

Vicario has been a key player for the club since joining the club three years ago. The current season hasn’t gone as planned for him, but Tottenham fans will remember his contributions, particularly during their UEFA Europa League run last season.
