- Roberto De Zerbi provides Tottenham injury update ahead of Everton clash
- Dominic Solanke back and James Maddison also available
- Tottenham need to better or match West Ham United’s result to avoid relegation
Tottenham Hotspur will find out tomorrow whether or not they remain in the Premier League as they prepare to host Everton.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side need to better or match West Ham United’s result against Leeds to avoid relegation, with the Lilywhites currently two points above the Hammers.
They could have sealed safety last week with a victory against Chelsea but came away with nothing at Stamford Bridge as they were beaten 2-1.
And now, speaking ahead of the game against the Toffees, De Zerbi has provided crucial injury updates on Dominic Solanke and James Maddison that could well end up saving Tottenham’s season.
Solanke and Maddison fit for Everton clash
Maddison has made just two substitute appearances this season after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season.
The England international made an impact against Leeds and Chelsea, although he was unable to directly notch up a goal or an assist.
Solanke, meanwhile, limped off against Wolves and hasn’t featured since suffering a hamstring injury.
De Zerbi, however, has confirmed that both players are now fully fit and are expected to play some part tomorrow.
“Solanke is available,” said the Italian via Football London.
“We have to decide if he starts in the first 11 or not, and Maddison is available. It is always tough to decide before the game how many minutes he can play.
“Of course, he is a different player, a top player for us. But we have to analyse the physical condition, the Italian weather and a lot of things. But both are available.”
Tottenham must make some changes vs Everton
In our opinion, both Maddison and Solanke need to start tomorrow.
Randal Kolo Muani came under a lot of criticism for his performance against Chelsea and should be relegated to the bench.
As for Maddison, his inclusion would mean De Zerbi has to sacrifice one of Joao Palhinha or Conor Gallagher, with Rodrigo Bentancur a shoo-in for a spot in the centre of the park.
That is a decision for the coach to make, but Maddison is capable of deciding games with a moment of magic.
And that could be the difference between Premier League and Championship football next season, so they need to take a chance with the England international’s fitness and give him 90 minutes to save their season.
