At a glance:

Tottenham face Aston Villa on Sunday
It’s a crucial Premier League clash for Spurs
A win could pull them out of the relegation zone

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to build on their win over Wolves last week as they prepare to take on Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League.

Coming into the game, Spurs are in the relegation zone, two points behind West Ham and five behind Nottingham Forest.

However, the Hammers have played one more game than the other two, losing 3-0 against Brentford on Saturday. Meanwhile, Nottingham will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Hence, a win could see Tottenham escape the relegation zone and potentially close the gap between them and Forest.

Spurs will look to build on their momentum after recording their first win of 2026 against Wolves last week. It ended their 15-game winless streak in the Premier League.

Spurs lost Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke to injuries against Wolves. However, they could potentially have Destiny Udogie back against Villa.

Moreover, Unai Emery could rotate his team, with one eye on the Europa League semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest on May 7. They lost 1-0 in the first leg on Thursday.

Villa are fifth in the Premier League standings, seven points above Brentford, who have played one more game. With Burnley up next for them, Emery’s side have largely confirmed their place in the Top 5.

The Villans have won their last four games against Tottenham across competitions and will look to continue their streak on Sunday. They also eliminated Spurs in the FA Cup Third Round this season.
