Tottenham Hotspur are well and truly in a relegation dog fight as they slipped to a damaging 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi gave Fulham a 2-0 lead at half-time, while Richarlison’s second-half strike turned out to be merely a consolation.
Tottenham are winless in ten Premier League games and are just four points above the relegation zone as their free fall continued in London.
To make matters worse, there was a lot of controversy surrounding Fulham’s opening goal before Wilson slammed the ball home.
When asked about the goal, the Tottenham manager went on an astonishing rant as he accused Fulham striker Raul Jimenez of cheating.
Tudor rips into Raul Jimenez
Raul Jimenez has been in fine form recently and once again led the line for Fulham. He played a big role in the opening goal as he won a crucial header a few seconds before Wilson broke the deadlock from close range.
However, replays suggested Jimenez had both his hands on Radu Dragusin as he took all the help he could get to win the header.
After Wilson reeled away in celebration, Tudor and the Tottenham players protested as they felt the goal would be ruled out for a foul on the Romanian defender.
However, after a lengthy VAR check, Fulham were awarded the goal as VAR deemed that there wasn’t a clear and obvious error with the referee’s on-field decision.
When quizzed about the incident, Tudor pulled no punches with his assessment of Jimenez’s actions.
“He cheated, the player [Raul Jimenez] pushing and they scored. It’s cheating and a foul,” said the interim Tottenham manager via The Athletic.
“The goal is because he takes advantage, not thinking about football. He was not thinking about the ball; he was thinking about how to cheat.”
Tottenham on the wrong end of ‘incredible mistake’
In another interview with Sky Sports (via BBC), Tudor also had his say on the decision, describing it as an ‘incredible mistake.’
He also claimed Tottenham’s problems are beyond what’s on the pitch, which is a sign that his players are well and truly feeling the heat of being dragged into a relegation battle.
“These are not things to speak outside, we speak in the dressing room. The problems are more complex [than attitude and commitment] second half was better, but the first half was not enough.”
Tottenham face Crystal Palace next and remain the only team yet to win a Premier League game in 2026.
With relegation looming large over N17, the upcoming weeks could well become a dark spell in the club’s history if their free fall doesn’t stop.
