Lucas Moura scored a hattrick to help Spurs beat relegated Huddersfield Town 4-0 at their new home and move above Chelsea to third in the Premier League table.
Victor Wanyama was surprisingly the other scorer for the home side, who were comfortable throughout the course of this game.
The Kenyan midfielder gave his team the lead in the 24th minute after he was well found by Fernando Llorente. The former then danced around the Huddersfield keeper to slot the ball home.
Moura doubled the lead two minutes later when he rifled a low shot past Ben Hamer, after being played in by Moussa Sissoko.
The Brazil international was on the scoresheet again three minutes from time, when he controlled a Christian Eriksen cross and volleyed the ball into the back of the net.
He eventually completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage time with a sumptuous finish, after Heung-min Son found him with a through ball.
All in all, a comfortable afternoon for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who now have two big games in two different competitions against Manchester City coming up.
The manager would be glad that he rotated his side for this game and it paid off.
Here’s how we rated the players’ performances today:
Hugo Lloris - 6
The Frenchman didn’t have to do a lot throughout the course of this game. The one time he was called into action, he made the save.
Kyle Walker-Peters - 7
He was a constant threat down the right-hand side. Overall, a good outing for the youngster.
Juan Foyth - 7
The Argentine was solid at the back and very tidy on the ball.
Davinson Sanchez - 7
Wasn’t really required to make defensive clearances on a regular basis. Did the job well when required.
Jan Vertonghen - 7
Just like other centre-backs, did his job well when required and was tidy in possession. Subbed off very late in the game.
Ben Davies - 7
Got up and down the left-hand side very well. His forward runs were causing problems to the Huddersfield back line.
Victor Wanyama - 7
Took his goal well and moved the ball around with crispness in the defensive midfield. Not really tested defensively.
Moussa Sissoko - 8
Assisted the first Moura goal and remained busy in midfield throughout the game. He is one of the key players in this team now. Subbed off with 15 minutes to go.
Christian Eriksen - 8
The Denmark international was given the free role today and he caused havoc in the Huddersfield defence. Created loads of chances in the final third and kept himself unmarked in between the lines.
Lucas Moura - 10
Scored a hattrick and all three of his goals were well-taken. A match-winning performance if ever there was one.
Fernando Llorente - 7
Won many aerial duels, linked the play up and was a threat from crosses. A good game from Harry Kane’s understudy. Subbed off very late on.
(SUB) Oliver Skipp - 5
Replaced Sissoko in midfield and did well for the final 15 minutes of the game.
(SUB) Danny Rose - 4
Came on for the final seven minutes and added energy to the left-hand side.
Heung-min Son - 5
Came on very late in the piece and assisted one goal deep into stoppage time.
