Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has suggested he is happy at the club and is keen to be part of its ‘journey’ going forwards.
Speaking to ESPN, Kane also admitted it could be difficult to progress with the financial implications provided by the new stadium, which is set to hold it’s first competitive match a week today.
The 25-year-old has been away with England during the international break, scoring against Czech Republic and Montenegro in comfortable wins for the Three Lions.
However, his attention will now return to club football with Spurs third in the Premier League table with eight matches to play.
The Spurs captain and manager Mauricio Pochettino both continue to be linked with moves to Real Madrid, who have recently re-appointed boss Zinedine Zidane.
That is not something that seems to be on the talismanic forward’s mind, who also admitted there will be a balancing act to be struck over the coming years in terms of spending and winning trophies.
He said:
I’ve always said as long as the club is moving in the right direction and showing the right ambition, I want to be part of the journey. It’s something you assess along the way. A lot of people look at it and say this is maybe the best team we’ve had, maybe the best team we’ll ever have and the best manager, but it’s important that we have something to show for it. It’s not just when we look back in 10 years, we had a great team. It’s, ‘Look what they did. Look what they won.’ The challenge for us is, can we keep going up and up and up? It’s going to be difficult in the next couple of years with the stadium and the finances.
