Davies not sure if a move for Gareth Bale would be possible

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has cast doubt over rumours of a return to North London this summer for Gareth Bale.

TEAMtalk write that Davies kept his cards relatively close to his chest when asked about his Wales team-mate, saying that he wasn’t sure if a move would be possible.

Bale joined the Spanish giants on the last day of the 2013 summer window, costing a then world record £85m.

The 29-year-old scored 21 Premier League goals in his last season at White Hart Lane, terrorising defences with his ability to run with the ball and shoot from almost anywhere on the pitch.

The former Southampton man has come under criticism from the Madrid fans this season, resulting in him being jeered during Saturday’s 1-0 Clasico defeat to Barcelona.

This was not something that pleased his agent Jonathan Barnett, who said the treatment of his player was ‘nothing short of a disgrace’.

It is believed that the Galacticos could be willing to let him return to England this season, but know they will have to take a considerable hit on the fee they shelled out six years ago.

On a possible return for Bale, Davies said:

I don’t even know if that’s possible. When we play with him for the international team he’s a leader. He sets an example on the pitch and he’s a joy to play with.
