Defender Jan Vertonghen has warned Tottenham Hotspur must be on their game if they wish to progress to the next round of the Champions League.
His comments came on SkySports after last night’s fantastic 3-0 home leg victory over Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 stage of the competition.
Son Heung-Min opened the scoring early in the second half before Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente added late strikes to take a healthy lead to Germany in just under three weeks time.

With the three-goal cushion, Spurs players and fans could be forgiven for becoming complacent, but the 31-year-old was keen to insist the job is still far from done.
He said:
Dortmund’s stadium is one of the most difficult places to go. We have been there a couple of times over the last years. We are going to see a different Dortmund so we have got to be prepared for that. Obviously, the result helps – it is a great result and I think if we put the same mentality on the pitch as we did we have to go through.
Last night’s win means Mauricio Pochettino’s men have beaten Dortmund the last three times the teams have met, which should be a good omen going into the second leg.
