Spurs dealt huge blow in pursuit of Ivan Perisic
Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a setback in their pursuit of winger Ivan Perisic after the winger revealed his desire to join German side Bayern Munich, according to a report on Football London.
Spurs are the only side in the Premier League to make a signing and were hoping to lure Perisic to north London.
Perisic, who scored for Croatia in the World Cup final, has been linked with a move to England for well over a year, with Manchester United heavily interested.
But both English sides have been dealt a blow after he revealed he would prefer a reunion with Bayern boss Niko Kovac.
When speaking about his current situation, Perisic said:
Me at Bayern? Niko Kovac influenced me a lot. I played very well for Croatia when he was the coach and we congratulated each other for everything we did in Germany.
If he wants me, he knows where I am. I’d like to play in Spain or England one day, but the Champions League comes first.
I’ve heard that some clubs want me, but before that, I must talk to Inter. Only then will I be able to take part in negotiations and make a decision.
Spurs fans are growing impatient as no new players have been added to their squad whilst their rivals continue to strengthen.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is not worried about the lack of transfer activity but is hoping to bring in at least one new face before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
