Tottenham Hotspur are battling with fellow Premier League side Liverpool for the signature of Croatia defender Domagoj Vida and have reportedly submitted a £16m bid, according to a report on Turkish Football.
The centre-back has been in fine form for his country and has helped them reach the semi-final of the World Cup.
Vida managed to find the back of the net in Croatia’s quarter-final victory over Russia with a neat header in extra-time and has caught the eye of many European clubs with some solid defensive performances.
The Besiktas defender will face another huge test this week as he comes up against England striker Harry Kane and it is safe to say there will be many clubs keeping an eye on Vida’s performances.
He only joined the Turkish side in January as a free agent but his stock has risen considerably during his World Cup campaign.
The club is reportedly open to letting the 29-year-old leave if the right offer is made and with the future of Toby Alderweireld uncertain, Mauricio Pochettino is eager to have a replacement ready.
Vida played 13 times in the Super Lig last season and there could be a Premier League war to secure his signature over the next few weeks.
