Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer £27m for Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his squad, according to a report on Talksport.
With the future of Danny Rose in the balance, Pochettino is eager to sign Grimaldo, who has been impressive during his time with Portuguese side Benfica.
Grimaldo is a product of the Barcelona youth academy and is an attacking full-back, which is what the Spurs boss loves.
The 22-year-old has been at Benfica since 2016 and is being watched by a number of clubs, including German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Spurs have not submitted a formal offer for Grimaldo yet as Pochettino wants to sort out Rose’s future first before signing a replacement.
Grimaldo played 28 times in the Portuguese top flight last season and even managed to get his name on the scoresheet once, whilst providing four assists. He also starred against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
He can get caught too far up the left-flank at times, but Pochettino knows that he has enough time to develop the youngster into a complete full-back.
