Ancelotti eyeing up Dembele as his first Napoli signing

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, new Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti is monitoring the situation of Moussa Dembele at Tottenham, and could be his first signing in charge of the Blues.

The Belgian mainstay is believed to reject any such approach from Spurs in regards to a new contract, having just twelve months left on his current deal.

Ancelotti may be on the lookout this summer for one, if not two central midfielders should hot talent Jorginho (attracting interest from the Premier League elite) and Marek Hamsik (thought to be attracting interest from China) depart the Stadio San Paulo.

Should the midfielder choose not to become Ancelotti’s first signing, then Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal and PSG’s Adrien Rabiot are next on the list.

However, if Dembele does follow through with his intentions and leaves White Hart Lane, then Mauricio Pochettino (fresh off the back of a new contract) will need to plug the gap left by the Belgian’s presence.

Making 31 appearances this season, this will not be a simple solution, as Dembele was, once again, key to Tottenham’s 3rd place finish in the Premier League, and 3rd consecutive Champions League qualification.
