Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Toby Alderweireld will not be sold to Manchester United unless Anthony Martial is included in the deal.

The London Evening Standard claims that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants “a forward who can also play on the wing or at No. 10.”, and the French international would appear to fit the bill.

The North London outfit are “hopeful that United, who are interested in Alderweireld, will be prepared to do business”.

The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson reports that Jose Mourinho is targeting the Belgian centre-half to revamp Manchester United’s defence

However, Mourinho and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward are aware that any approach for Alderweireld will be made difficult by Daniel Levy, as he will not want to sell a prized asset to a Premier League title rival.

Tottenham’s interest in a potential replacement for the defender is not recent, with Spurs said to be interested in Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt and West Bromwich Albion’s Ahmed Hegazi.
