Spurs given boost in pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt has informed the club of his desire to leave at the end of the season, according to Football London.

Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a new centre-back this summer with Toby Alderwiereld set to leave the club at the end of the season, and Spurs are reportedly very keen on signing the Ajax defender.

De Ligt has been in top form over the last year for the Dutch side and has attracted interest from a number of top clubs from around Europe.

Manchester City and Arsenal have both been linked with the player in the past, but Spurs are keen to make a big money move for the 18-year-old and are current favorites land his signature.

Ajax aren’t keen on the player leaving but may be left powerless due to the temptation of Premier League football.

Spurs have a strong relationship with Ajax having signed a number of their players in the past, something which could help them get this potential deal over the line.
