Dele Alli to miss England friendlies

Tottenham’s Dele Alli has been ruled out of England’s upcoming friendlies against Germany and Brazil through a hamstring injury.

The BBC report that the midfielder will miss the two games, as well as missing Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace.

Alli was influential in Tottenham’s eye-catching midweek victory against Real Madrid, so the news comes as a huge blow to both England and Spurs.

After a slow start to the season, the former MK Dons man had recently begun to pick up form, scoring seven goals in all competitions.

Gareth Southgate has selected an experimental squad for the two games with youngsters Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham both called up to the senior side.

There’s also a place for Spurs’ Harry Winks in the senior squad, but it’s yet to be seen who will replace Alli in the squad.

The two games have been earmarked as tests to see where England are under Southgate, who is yet to be seriously tested as manager of the Three Lions.
