Bundesliga side rule out signing Spurs defender
Tottenham Hotspur defender, Kevin Wimmer will not be heading back to the Bundesliga to sign for FC Koln.
According to reports coming out of German magazine RevierSport, cited from Inside Futbol, the Bundesliga outfit have ruled out a potential deal for the out-of-favour defender.
Following the form of both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, the Austrian international has been linked with a move back to Germany, having been signed from FC Koln for just £4.3 million back in 2015.
Wimmer, who’s a full Austrian international, is under contract at White Hart Lane until 2021 and would be forced to take a significant pay cut if he wanted to re-join his former club, making a move away from Spurs more likely to happen during the summer transfer window.
Spurs are unlikely to want to sell this January with depth limited for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
The 24-year-old has managed just seven appearances in all competitions this season, but did start during the club’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on the week.
