Is Victor Wanyama the “perfect player” for Tottenham Hotspur? Mauricio Pochettino seems to thinks so, and he has been heaping praise on his new signing in a recent video interview. He talks about how he knows the player very well from his time at Southampton and is certain to improve his squad.
“He’s powerful. I think he is the perfect player for us.”
“He’s a midfielder, a very strong midfielder. A holding midfielder that can play free and play very well with the ball.”
Pochettino then goes on to add, “Always our priority is to sign players that know the Premier League. It’s important.”
“It’s not easy, but when you have the possibility to sign a player like him (Wanyama) it’s a good opportunity for us.”
As I mentioned in my previous article, Wanyama will have very strong competition for a first team place due to Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele being such important players, but with Spurs fighting on four fronts next season he will definitely get a chance to show his talent. If he can keep his discipline, there is no reason why Wanyama can’t succeed at Tottenham. Victor got sent off three times last season for Southampton so Pochettino will be keen to make sure that doesn’t happen while playing under his watch.
