Victor Wanyama Signs For Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur have signed Victor Wanyama from Southampton.

The 24-year-old Kenyan midfielder had a year left on his contract at St Mary’s, and is Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing of the summer.

Pochettino knows the player well and was rumoured to have tried to buy Wanyama last summer. The defensive midfielder will give good competition to Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele but also add some real strength and depth to a squad that have Champions League football to contend with next season.

Wanyama started his career in Kenya before playing for teams in Sweden and Belgium. He then secured a move to Celtic, where he won the league and also played a big part in some memorable games in the group stages of the Champions League where scored to put them in front in their famous win against Barcelona back in 2012.

As a relatively young player with some good Premier League and Champions League experience, Wanyama could prove to be a great signing for the price paid.

Moussa Dembele will have to sit out the first three games due to the ban he picked up in the game against Chelsea near the end of last season, so we may well see Victor thrown straight into the action early on.
