Alli: We need to focus on ourselves

Dele Alli has urged Spurs to forget their Europa League defeat to Dortmund and to focus on themselves as they attempt to chase down Leicester and win the Premier League.

Spurs, who crashed out of the Europa League after a 2-1 defeat to Dortmund (5-1 on aggregate), have only eight games to close the five-point gap to league leaders Leicester City.

Speaking after the defeat which saw Spurs exit the Europa League, Alli said:

“We cannot let this dishearten us. If we win the Premier League this will be forgotten. It is important that we keep our heads up, not worry about the table too much, carry on with what we have been doing and, hopefully, we will be up there at the end of the season.

“There is still a long way to go, we all know that. Leicester are a great team. We know we are a great team and we have just to focus on ourselves.”

Alli also spoke about the learning curve they had gone through after playing Dortmund, whilst also stressing the need not to become complacent against Bournemouth.

He said:

“We are a young team and it was a learning curve for a lot of the players. It is important we do not let it get us down and that we keep fighting. We must do our job and not become complacent at Bournemouth.”

Will Spurs close the gap on Leicester and win the Premier League?
