Tottenham plan surprise bid for Juventus striker

Reports in the Mirror imply that Tottenham could be plotting a shock summer bid for Juventus and Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic.

Mandzukic only moved to Juventus from Atletico Madrid in the last summer transfer window, after joining the Spanish side from Bayern in 2014. With a taste for trying new experiences in different leagues, the striker would certainly look likely for a new test in England.

Tottenham have already been linked with Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne who would give the North London side more attacking options. Mandzukic would likely come as a stable alternative to the talismanic Harry Kane who has led the side since his rise in prominence last season.

If Spurs’ form continues and they finish the season in a Champions League place, the Juventus forward could come in handy with his record in the competition, netting 20 goals in 48 games since his debut in 2007. He has scored a tally of 8 goals this season, with 2 of them coming from European games.

The Croatian is currently rated at £20,000,000 but Juventus would apparently listen to offers around the marginally lower £19,700,000 mark. The Turin side paid around £15,000,000 for his services in the summer.

Tottenham’s current performances make them an exciting side to join. They will face some stiff competition from the striker’s former club, Bayern Munich, as well as high-paying Ligue 1 side, Monaco.
