Match Report: Tottenham 3-0 Fiorentina

Tottenham cruised into the last 16 round of the Europa League, as they dispatched Fiorentina 3-0 at White Hart Lane.

Spurs once again named a strong team, as captain Hugo Lloris returned in goal, whilst the likes of Ryan Mason and Nacer Chadli also started. It was in fact Ryan Mason who gave Spurs the lead in the first half, when he fired low into the bottom corner after being played through on goal.

It would remain 1-0 until the 63rd minute, when Erik Lamela fired home from inside the penalty area after the Fiorentina defence had failed to clear the ball from Nacer Chadli’s initial shot. The second goal put Spurs firmly in control, as Fiorentina showed very little fight or desire to get back into the tie.

Mauricio Pochettino’s finally sealed their route through to the last 16 of the Europa League, when in the 81st minute, Fiorentina captain Rodriguez turned the ball into his own net.

There was one sour note for Tottenham however, as Dele Alli received a yellow card for simulation meaning that he will miss the first leg of the round of 16 tie.

Spurs will learn who they will face in the round of 16 when the draw is made at midday tomorrow.
