Spurs progressed into the fifth round of the FA Cup as they dispatched a poor Colchester side 4-1 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The first half began with a collision between Colchester central defenders, Alex Wynter and Tom Eastman, which resulted in both being substituted off and Colchester losing their defensive organization. Spurs eventually took advantage of the lack of organization in the defence of the home side when Nacer Chadli fired past Keen in the 27th minute.
The score stayed 1-0 until the 64th minute, as Spurs wasted numerous chances either side of the half-time interval to extend the lead whilst Colchester exerted pressure on Michel Vorm’s goal.

However, in the 64th minute, Eric Dier fired at goal from 30 yards out and the ball looped past Keen in the Colchester goal after taking a massive deflection off a Colchester defender.
Colchester had chances to get back into the game, including Marvin Sordell failing to make the most of an error from Eric Dier but the former Bolton striker could only hit the outside of the post when through on goal.
Nacer Chadli then put Spurs 3-0 ahead when he headed in from a Kieran Trippier cross after a quick break from Spurs.

However, an unfortunate Ben Davies own goal in the 80th minute after the ball cannoned off the post and deflected in gave Colchester hope that they could possibly get something from a game in which struggled to match their Premier League opponents.
Tom Carroll then quickly ended any hopes of a Colchester comeback when he converted a cross from the left to secure Tottenham’s passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
