Andros Townsend has been linked with a move away from North London for some time now and it seemed for a long time that Newcastle would be the team to give him an escape route out of White Hart Lane, with Andros apparently wanting to join the Magpies in his search for regular first-team football.
However, according to Sky Sources, Newcastle’s interest in the England international has faded due to the value placed on him by Daniel Levy, with Watford now the new favourites to sign Townsend.
Andros Townsend is a product of the Spurs academy but endured a very bumpy journey to get to the first team, with Townsend having had loan spells with nine different clubs before his breakthrough season of 2013/14.
Townsend hasn’t started a league game for Spurs this season with his last appearance coming in the Europa League in October and he has appeared to have fallen down the pecking order at Spurs having featured mostly for the under 21’s this season.

Townsend has been demoted since he had a bust-up with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner earlier this season and doesn’t seem to be in Mauricio’s plans as he looks to take Spurs back into the Champions League.
It now seems that Newcastle have set their sights on other players with a lower price tag on them but with several teams still interested in Townsend, he could still make his move away from Spurs this transfer window as he looks to get into the England Euro 2016 squad.
