Mauricio Pochettino was happy with his side’s response to the midweek defeat against Leicester as they came from behind to beat a poor Sunderland side 4-1 at White Hart Lane.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Mauricio said:
“It was a good response to the Leicester defeat. I’m very pleased. We need to be patient.”

Mauricio also spoke of his belief in his squad:
” We have a very good, strong squad – today was a good example. The belief is fantastic.”
He also reserved praise for Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who was making his Premier League debut after he made very good saves to deny Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.
He said of the young England goalkeeper:
“We had a lot of shots on target – their goalkeeper was fantastic. I feel very pleased in the last few games.”
The result means that Spurs have strengthened their grip on 4th place and closed the gap to league leaders Arsenal and Leicester to 4 points before they play this weekend.
