According to the Independent, Tottenham are taking an interest in Southampton forward Shane Long after an impressive string of performances for the Saints.
The Republic of Ireland international has been in good form this season for his side, scoring 10 goals in all competitions from mainly substitute appearances and attracting interest from Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to have expressed his desires to bolster his attacking options this January and as a result of consistently good performances from Long, it is no surprise to see the Argentinian tactician taking a shine to the forward.

Although Spurs are reportedly interested in the experienced forward, they face competition from Liverpool as they look to strengthen their attack this month and could look to Long for another attacking outlet.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has previously said on several occasions that he is not looking to let go of any of his players this January, especially with his intentions of adding another striker to the squad this month, but a sizable offer for Long could tempt the Dutchman to sell.
Long joined Southampton in 2014 for what appeared to be a hefty price of £12 million however, under two years on, Saints are certainly reaping the rewards from the 28-year-old’s performances.
Would Long be a good signing for Spurs this January?
