Match Report: Everton 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park by an Everton side who came into the game off the back of a poor run of form.

Spurs dominated the opening stages of the game, with Harry Kane hitting the inside of the post with a driven shot from outside of the penalty area in the 10th minute. However, it would be a former Spurs man who opened the scoring when Lennon fired past Lloris to put the home side in front.

Tottenham continued to pile on the pressure and came close to equalizing in the 30th minute, when Ben Davies’ effort from the edge of the penalty area crashed against the underside of the crossbar. Tottenham eventually equalized in the 1st minute of injury time, when Alderweireld played a long ball forward to Dele Alli who chested the ball down and placed his effort past Howard to give Spurs a deserved equalizer.

In the second half, Spurs had two great chances to go into the lead, with Harry Kane unfortunately not capitalizing on either chance. As the game approached the final whistle, Everton began to exert pressure on the Tottenham defence and a shot from Besic forced Lloris to make an excellent save to keep the scores level whilst he also made a great save from Barkley in the dying moments to keep the scores level.

The result leaves Spurs in 4th place, 6 points behind Arsenal in 1st place and 3 points ahead of Manchester United in 5th place.
