Former boss Redknapp discourages Berahino move

Ex-Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been the latest to have his say over his former club’s potential January move for controversial West Brom star Saido Berahino, warning the club that the striker’s attitude could prove to be a disruption for the atmosphere among the players.

Spurs’ attempts to sign the England under-21 forward were well documented last season as Berahino found himself in the middle of a tug of war between them and West Brom as in regards to where the player would be come the start of the season.

Last summer, Mauricio Pochettino was prepared to cough up a hefty fee of £23 million for the exciting forward, however a different approach may be taken this January for Berahino. It has been rumoured that Tottenham will offer a sum of money as well as West Brom target Andros Townsend in a refreshed bid for the youngster.

However, former boss Redknapp has warned Tottenham against the move.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Redknapp stated that the signing of Berahino could be a massive gamble for the club as the young striker’s attitude could potentially disrupt the currently excellent atmosphere in the Spurs dressing room.

It would be a bit of a gamble. His attitude does seem the greatest and you don’t need that. There’s a great spirit at Tottenham, a great group of young players all pulling for each other and the manager has done a fantastic job. You don’t want to take any chances and disrupt that really.

Would Berahino be a good signing for Tottenham?
