An unlikely win, courtesy of a late Heung-Min Son backheel saw Tottenham snatch all three points away from a spirited Watford side.
The Hornets were in imperious form having crushed Liverpool 3-0 in their last home game and earning a draw away at Chelsea, but despite Odion Ighalo levelling the scores after Erik Lamela’s opener, Watford couldn’t make it seven points from nine and were in truth, unlucky to have lost the match.
Watford lost Nathan Ake in the second half to a straight red card, but looked the team more likely to score as Spurs struggled to deal with the home side’s pressure, especially in the air.
But Son’s winner condemns Watford to a sixth loss in the Premier League and is a minor setback for Quique Sanchez Flores’ side looking to make a surprise push for Europe.
For Spurs however, it’s a massive boost to their chances of Champions League qualification and means they end 2015 on a high note, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side making it three wins in a row and at the time of writing, move up to third in the league.
