Lloris looking ahead to Newcastle

Hugo Lloris reflected with typical optimism following the frustrating 0-0 with West Brom which extended Spurs’ unbeaten run to a Premier League record 14 games.

“Sometimes you need to keep fighting and try to do your best not to lose, and that’s what we did. The spirit is great and now, to get the benefit of the draw against Chelsea and this draw, we need to take three points against Newcastle.”

However, the Frenchman did admit that the side found it difficult to adapt against a staunchly physical Tony Pulis team, confirming many fans thoughts.

“It was really difficult to develop our style as usual.”

“It’s difficult to retain anything from this performance and from his game because, honestly, it was very tough on the pitch. We need to look forward.”

The France captain made persistent reference to the need to look forward towards the game with Newcastle at the weekend where Tottenham will be hoping to take all three points from what has looked a very poor side this season.

However, Newcastle will be coming off the back of an important 2-0 win against Liverpool so Spurs should not dare to take the task lightly and risk dropping more points in a more than winnable game.

When questioned about his own contribution to the game, most notably a world-class save from Jonas Olsson, Lloris was typically humble.

“It was just a moment’s decision, I took the decision to stay on my line and I was able to push the ball over the bar.” The Frenchman added, “It’s always good when you can contribute to the team getting points.”
