Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has refused to rule out a return to Italy in the future, despite insisting he’s happy at White Hart Lane.
According to The Express, Juventus and former club AS Roma are interested in taking the Argentine back to Serie A, where he scored 15 goals in his final season, before sealing a club-record move to Spurs in 2013.
The £30 million signing has taken a long time to live up to expectations, but he’s starting to find his feet and his form under Mauricio Pochettino, with nine goals and 13 assists in the past two seasons, including a man of the match performance in the 4-1 drubbing of Manchester City this season.
The 23-year-old has worked hard to turn his fortunes around and it appears it hasn’t gone unnoticed in Italy.
Speaking to Fox Sports in regards to Juventus’ interest, Lamela said: “I’ve always thought of Tottenham.
“Here they make me feel important. For the moment a move is difficult, but maybe in the future why not?
“Also to Roma.”
The former River Plate star has kept Andros Townsend out of the side, with his work rate integral to Tottenham this season as they once again chase Champions League qualification.
Despite his tendency to persistently give away fouls, it’s been the only black mark in an otherwise superb campaign for Lamela.
