Spurs favourites to land winger, but at what cost?

The January transfer window opens a mere seven weeks from now, so naturally media outlets around the globe are firing up their transfer rumours and stories. As usual, with the obscene amounts of money that many Premier League clubs have, they will, as usual, be at the centre of many of these rumours.

So it goes with Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli, whom Tottenham have been reportedly scouting for some time, and who are seen as favourites for the 25-year old winger. According to Sport Witness , Spurs may face some heavy competition for his signature from Inter Milan, who are also reportedly interested.

Sport Witness lays out an interesting scenario whereby even securing the Algerian international’s signature may upset Spurs supporters as it may signal the end of the line for Erik Lamela with the club.

Sport Witness, themselves citing reports from Corriere dello Sport in Italy, hypothesise that Inter would be happy with either Feghouli or Lamela, and would view Spurs’ acquisition of Feghouli as the green light to come after Lamela in the January window.

Feghouli has made 14 appearances for Valencia in all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting one. Lamela, on the other hand, has made 15 appearances for Tottenham this season in all competitions, scoring four and assisting three.
