Son delighted to have made Premier League debut

Although Son Heung-Min’s debut wasn’t one to be remembered from a performance perspective as he was replaced by Andros Townsend midway through the second-half, the player himself was delighted to have made his debut for Spurs after joining in the summer from Bayern Leverkusen.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Son said of his debut:

“It was amazing for me to make my debut – it’s a dream for me to play in the Premier League,”

“I know I can play better, but this is only my first game. Now I want more. I just need a bit of time to settle in with the team.”

As the season progresses, Spurs fans will be hoping to see more of the South Korean international who cost the club £22 million as the club look to build an attack around England international and last season’s top scorer Harry Kane.

Son, who spent two years at Bayer Leverkusen before moving onto White Hart Lane this summer scored 29 goals in 87 appearances for the German side as he was mainly played on the left of a front three.

His international career has seen him score 14 goals for South Korea including scoring a hat-trick against Laos in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in the recent international break.

However, he will need to improve his performances as the season progresses in order to keep his spot in the team and fight off the competition from the likes of Erik Lamela and Andros Townsend for his left wing position.
