Dier extends Spurs contract

Eric Dier has signed a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur, keeping him at the club until 2020.

The England-U21 international signed from Sporting Lisbon last summer and made 36 appearances across all competitions in his first season at White Hart Lane.

“The club is in a great place right now and as long as we stick together, everything is looking excited,” he said upon signing.

“There is a great core here of young players and even the likes of Christian, Erik, Kyle and Danny are still young. We have a young team, a core of young English players and young players in general and there is such a great future at the club

“I always knew it was a big club when I signed but to come here and play in the Premier League, you realise how big the league is and how big this club is in the league.”

Dier has featured in all four of Spurs’ Premer League games this season, adopting a more advanced central midfield role.
