Tottenham tried to offload England winger Andros Townsend in the summer transfer window, according to a report by John Cross in The Mirror.
Cross says that Spurs tried to include Townsend in a player-plus-cash deal with West Brom, in order to acquire England U21 striker Saido Berahino.
They apparently included Townsend in a package deal, along with defender Federico Fazio, before putting in a straight cash offer for Berahino.

The report goes on to say that The Baggies had shown some interest in taking Townsend, as did Aston Villa, Leicester and Sunderland, but the £15million price tag seemingly put most teams off.
Townsend is currently out with an ankle injury, but Cross believes that the winger would consider a move away from Spurs in January if he doesn’t see more game time between now and then.
With Euro 2016 coming up next summer, Townsend might have to move in order to play enough games to be considered for selection by England manager Roy Hodgson.
