Speaking while on international duty, Hugo Lloris has revealed that he wanted to leave White Hart Lane for a switch to Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United side.
Ed Woodward and co. were actively seeking replacements for David de Gea, who was endlessly linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer.
The newspaper believes that Lloris was at the top of United’s list of potential replacements for the goalkeeper and were ready to make a late move for him, until de Gea’s move back to Spain didn’t materialise.
Lloris is currently on international duty with France, preparing to face off against Portugal and Serbia in preparation for Euro 2016 next summer.

When asked about the reports linking him to Manchester United, the goalkeeper had this to say:
A lot of things were said and written. There could have been a development there but the desired movement didn’t happen.
However, the 28-year-old then went on to reassure Spurs fans, claiming that he is fully committed to the club and is ready to help Mauricio Pochettino’s side kick on and break into the top four once and for all.
I have a lot of affection for Tottenham. I feel respected, I have a very good relationship with the staff and I’m ready to play the best season possible.
