Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane is adamant that he is not a ‘one-hit-wonder’ and says his form last year was not down to luck.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of England’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland, the Spurs striker insisted that his great 2014/15 season was not a fluke, despite the fact that he hasn’t found the net in any of Tottenham’s first four Premier League matches this year.
Kane said:
I know I am more than that [a one-season wonder]. I don’t think last year was lucky. I worked very hard to get where I was and I know I have got to keep working hard to progress, but I am very self-confident.

As a striker, you always go through spells when you’re on fire and sometimes it doesn’t go your way, but I’m full of self-belief that I’ve got goals in me. My start to the season has been OK. It could have been better. I would like to have scored by now, but football doesn’t always work like that.
The 2014/15 season could hardly have gone better for Kane, he started the year as one of Tottenham’s backup strikers but ended up as their spearhead, scoring 31 goals in all competitions.
He went on to be voted the PFA Young Player of the Year, and even managed to score on his England debut against Lithuania, less than two minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Kane will likely feature at some point against San Marino at the weekend, a game which provides him with a great opportunity to get off the mark this season, and hopefully kick-start another wonderful goalscoring campaign.
