Emmanuel Adebayor will not play for Tottenham before January after being left out of the club’s Premier League and Europa League squads for the coming season.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City man has been frozen out this season, and his misery at White Hart Lane looks set to continue as he remains unregistered to play in either competition
Mauricio Pochettino registered a 23-man squad with UEFA this morning to play in this season’s Europa League, and the Togo international was the glaring omission, just hours before the Spurs boss registered his Premier League squad, in which he was again left out of.
The decision raises further question marks over his footballing future, after failing to agree a compensation deal with Tottenham that would allow him to join West Ham on Tuesday’s deadline day.
As any potential move would be a free transfer, Adebayor could yet move whilst the window is shut, but would firstly need to agree a deal with Daniel Levy and co. to release him from his White Hart Lane contract.
However, it is thought that Adebayor wants the full value of his contract paid up – believed to be around £5m – whilst Spurs are only willing to pay a portion of that.
It would seem the advantage in negotiations currently lies with the North London club for now, however, as the former Manchester City and Arsenal man will be resigned to reserve team football for the next four months if he does not accept.
