Everton U21s 4-1 Spurs

Ugo Ehiogu’s side tasted defeat against Everton on Monday in their opening game of the Premier League U21 International Cup.

David Henan’s spot-kick gave The Toffees a 14th minute lead at Goodison Park, before Sam Byrne doubled the lead in first half injury-time.

It was three just after the break thanks to Conor McAleny’s strike, and it looked like an enslaught might be on the cards when Byrne added his second and the host’s fourth on 50 minutes.

Spurs contained their rampant hosts from then on, however, and grabbed a consolation goal through Christian Maghoma’s header.

After the game, Ehiogu criticized the young Spurs’ performance, saying “There aren’t too many positives to take out of the game and that’s always a concern.

“Everton is always a tough place to go to and with the exception of the captain (Filip Lesniak), Cy (Goddard) and one or two others, it was dissapointing.”

Next up in the competition is a match against Schalke on November 3, before concluding the group against Porto on December 23.
