Erik Lamela’s father says the player wants to return to Serie A.
The Argentinian is close to leaving White Hart Lane in a loan move to Inter Milan, and Lamela senior has told Gazzetta dello Sport that his son is happy to return to Italy.
“We would like a return to Serie A and we appreciate the Inter interest.” he said.
“It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his charachteristics.
“We’ll see what happens over the final few days of the transfer market. We are waiting for news too.”
It is believed that the Italian side has agreed to pay a £4.4m loan fee and will have an option to make the deal permanent for a further £10m.
If a move does materialize, Lamela will be hoping to recapture the form that saw him net 21 times in two years at Roma.
Since departing Stadio Olimpico in 2013, he has scored just two league goals.
