Spurs target Saido Berahino has been left out of West Brom’s squad to face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The 22-year-old was subject of a bid from Tottenham at the beginning of the week, and his omission this weekend could be an indication that he is about to move to White Hart Lane.
Speaking on Friday, Baggies manager Tony Pulis said that he had told the attacker to forget about speculation regarding a move and concentrate on football, but his absence suggests that the player has been unable to do that, or even that a move could already be in motion.
Ahead of kick-off, Pulis refused to comment specificly on Berhaino’s absence, but said he was simply frustrated with the transfer window.
“It’s absolutely ridicolous we’re talking about something outside of football,” he said.
“I have said what I have said about the transfer window. If you close it before the season starts then everybody can concentrate on football.
“There are lots of clubs being affected by it being open and we are playing Chelseae today – the champions – and we are not talking about football, which is down to the system.”
