At a glance:
- De Zerbi lauds attitude of Tottenham squad
- Spurs finally win a Premier League game
- North London side still in the relegation zone
Roberto De Zerbi finally had lift off as Tottenham manager as they secured a nervy 1-0 win against Wolves at Molineux.
After 15 failed attempts, the North London outfit finally won a game of Premier League football. However, they remain in the relegation as West Ham United secured a late win against Everton.
It was hardly a noteworthy performance from Tottenham, but they got points on the board, which is the name of the game right now.
And De Zerbi feels his players have surprised him with their work ethic and attitude despite being in a relegation battle.
De Zerbi hails Tottenham’s attitude
In 2026, the Tottenham squad have been desperately devoid of confidence and that has shown on the pitch.
They showed signs of life under Igor Tudor, but their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest was the final straw for the Croatian, who left the club by mutual consent.

Under De Zerbi, they have performed admirably in each of his three games in charge of the club, putting four points on the board.
And the former Brighton boss feels his players have surprised him after he had a closer look at them in training and on matchdays.
“Yes, because when I watch the game, or if you watch it from the stands or on TV, you can’t tell if they have the right spirit or the right attitude,” said the Italian in his post-match press conference via Football London.
“And I work with them every day and all players are professional, good guys and they are suffering from this situation.
“Just need to give them confidence and order on the pitch, because I didn’t like the second half at all.
“We could play better, we have to play better, much better than the second half. We have to play like the first 30 minutes. Maybe creating more chances to score and more shots on goal.”
De Zerbi confident Tottenham will stay up
With just four games to go, time is running out for Tottenham to preserve their Premier League status.
In recent weeks, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United have all picked up points, which has added to their concerns.

De Zerbi, however, feels the two-point gap between West Ham and Tottenham is hardly unassailable.
“I understood we have the possibility and the chance to stay up,” continued De Zerbi.
“We have two points. Not ten points. We have two points from West Ham.
“They are a good team, but Tottenham also have very good players and are a very good team.”
Tottenham travel to Villa Park next week to take on Aston Villa. And they will need to make their newfound momentum count and get three points on the board to stand a chance of staying up.
