Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama.
The Kenya international worked with Mauricio Pochettino during his time at St.Marys, and the pair could be set for a reunion at White Hart Lane, according to the Daily Mail.
It is likely Pochettino will need to part with as much as £25m if he is to bring the defensive stalwart to North London, but it could be a figure that Daniel Levy is ready to part with after the sales of several midfielders this summer has left the team sparse of bodies.
The speculation comes just 48 hours after Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld recommended that the club make an approach for Wanyama – or another former teammate Morgan Schneiderlin – to make life easier for the defence.
“At Southampton, Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin put good pressure so they didn’t have have time to put the ball in the box, it makes it easier for the defenders,” he said.
Wanyama has played in both of Southampton’s opening two Premier League games, in which they have picked up just one point.
