West Brom have turned down a £15m offer from Tottenham for Saido Berahino
The striker has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane all summer, but Baggies chairman Jonathan Peace has confirmed that Spurs’ opening bid has been rejected.
It is likely that Daniel Levy will return with an improved offer, but Peace is adamant that his man man will not be sold this summer.
“We have no interest in selling Saido which is what I have told Daniel Levy,” he said.
“I know we are living in an age where no club can say “never” about the possibility of selling a player, however the prospect of selling Saido is simply not on our agenda.”
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is desperate for attacking reinforcements after the sale of Roberto Soldado, and he sees Berahino as the ideal candidate to partner Harry Kane up top.
The 22-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions last year.
